Cardi B, my girl. If you haven’t heard any of her music (you must be living under a rock), it’s time to be introduced to a women who is not afraid to be real. I recently was faced with a situation that challenged my own confidence through social media. Should we care what people think? Are we really allowed to be who we want to be? I honestly don’t know. I want to say that we shouldn’t care what people think and we should be who we want to be. But I will tell you this, it’s not that easy.
Being completely confident in who you are, what you do and how you feel is one thing.
Showing the world you are completely confident in who you are, what you do and how you feel is another.

Confidence Like Cardi B
Those of you who have been following me for awhile now, understand my feelings, intention and sarcasm. For that – I LOVE YOU! I can be who I want to be without feeling the need to explain myself and if I ever do, you’re the first ones to tell me to stop. For that – THANK YOU!
When I first discovered Cardi B, I started watching her interviews with people like Ellen Degeneres. Her confidence overflows. Some might say she’s “too much”. But hold on.
Remember being told you can be anything you want to be?
Do you remember when your mom would tell you to just “be yourself” and to not follow others?
Why is that not okay as an adult?
Why are we so quick to judge someone who isn’t living life inside of the box?
Guess what? As a creator, you can’t create inside of a box. You can’t do something new by following everyone else. You can’t invent something that has never been thought of before by following another blueprint. I’m guilty, of all of this. Maybe I just needed to write it all out to remind myself to be who I want to be. To wear what I want to wear. To go where I want to go. It’s so easy to get caught up in what the world is doing around you.
When I talk about confidence, I mean being confident in who you are and who you want to be. Having confidence or being “real” doesn’t mean posting a picture without a filter or edits. It means being real on the inside. Expressing what you love. Recognizing what you dislike. Knowing what you want or at least knowing that you want something. Believing in anything, if it’s a religion, women rights or that every puppy should have a home. That’s what it means to be real.
I guess sometimes it takes someone challenging your confidence to remind yourself why you’re doing all of this. I’m here to share my story, to connect with others who felt alone like I once did. To support the ones who will make it a mission to promote confidence. And maybe even save one women from believing the lie that they’re not good enough, they will never be or they can’t do it.

Are you ready?
You do you, girl. Show off your curves. Hold that beer in your picture. Wear that shirt you always put on but decide last minute to never wear out. You will never make everyone happy so you might as well stop trying. Be your damn self. And be proud of it. Consider it a challenge – and tag me in your journey of finding your confidence.
Oh and I’ll be listening to this song on repeat while I work on my Cardi B confidence.
