Every good trip comes with amazing food.
Check out my previous post for all the breweries I visited on my trip to Portland. Now get ready for all of the delicious food!
FOOD:
Duck Fat
This was recommended by multiple friends so I knew we had to give it a try. We went to Duck Fat for a snack between lunch and dinner so we only got something to share.
Belgium Fries with truffle ketchup and Thai chili mayo – we shared a large and there was plenty – we actually took some back to the hotel for a late night snack. The truffle ketchup was out of this world!
Tandem Roasters Coffee Milkshake – this wasn’t a favorite choice but it still didn’t stop us from finishing every last drop.
We got to Duck Fat around 4 PM – thinking we would beat the lunch and dinner rush. We were wrong! It was a 45 minute to one hour wait to sit at a table. Duck Fat is very small with limited seating. We decided to order take out which was only about a 15 minute wait. If you don’t mind finding a bench nearby and eating outside, I recommend it. We would have never waited that long knowing we had dinner reservations in 3 hours.
DiMillo’s on the Water
It’s in the title – this restaurant is on a huge boat! Check out the link to see what I’m talking about. I would highly recommend reservations and a love for seafood if visiting DiMillo’s on the Water. The food was delicious, the portions were large and we left stuffed!
FYI: I have a history with motion sickness but for the most part I was totally fine. That was until the boat started rocking. For a second, I wasn’t sure if it was all the craft beer kicking in from earlier in the day. The waitress must have seen that I had a concerned look or I was starting to turn green – she quickly assured me that we were actually rocking.

Public Market House
You will quickly learn that I hate to wake up early. Sunday morning I had zero motivation to jump out of bed to find a breakfast spot. Once I was ready, the restuaraunts we called all had an hour long wait. While walking around Portland we found this gem!
The Public Market House reminded me of a small (very small) Faneuil Hall. The Public Market House is home to multiple food vendors. We grabbed breakfast sandwiches on homemade english muffins from Big Sky Bread Company.
Extra sleep + amazing, quick breakfast = win/win
The Holy Donut
Welcome to donut heaven! Be prepared for a long line, but I will assure you – it is worth it. The line moves fairly quickly so don’t be intimidated if it’s out the door and down the street.
The toasted coconut donut is everything that dreams are made of. Make sure to grab enough to enjoy later at home!
Maine Squeeze Juice Cafe
Quick stop at Maine Squeeze for a Bermuda Bliss Smoothie.
Coastal Maine Popcorn
The popcorn at Coastal Maine Popcorn is nothing that you have had before. From dill pickle to chocolate covered bacon – the flavors are out of this world. Unfortunately, they do limit two samples per customer. The popcorn ended up being the perfect snack for the 2 hour ride home!

Portland was a beautiful city with so much to see and do. Pack your walking shoes and enjoy all the city has to offer. Portland, we will be back again!
